A Relaxed Spring Wedding at Ballykealey House
Hannah and Shane’s wedding was one of those lovely, relaxed days where there never seemed to be any rush.
The morning started in two different places, with Hannah getting ready in Dublin and Shane in Bray, before everyone made their way to Ballykealey House in County Carlow for the ceremony and the rest of the celebrations.
It was a small wedding of around 65 guests, which gave the whole day a really intimate feel. And, of course, their poodle Penny was there too. I always love when couples include their dogs in their wedding day as they are such a big part of family life, so it feels completely natural to have them there.
Spring at Ballykealey House
Ballykealey House was looking particularly beautiful at this time of year.
The cherry blossom was out and the grounds were full of spring colour, so after the ceremony we took time for Hannah and Shane’s portraits.
Rather than staying in one spot, we wandered around the property together, stopping whenever we found beautiful light or an interesting little corner.
I love when there is enough space in a wedding day for portraits to happen like this. There is no need to rush through a list of locations or poses, we can simply explore for a while and see what happens.
An Intimate Carlow Wedding
With only around 65 people, Hannah and Shane were able to spend so much of the day surrounded by the people closest to them.
The whole celebration felt heartfelt and incredibly relaxed. Nothing felt like it was being done simply because that is what you’re “supposed” to do at a wedding.
It was just a beautiful spring day with family, friends, their dog Penny, lots of laughter and plenty of time to actually enjoy being together.
Exactly the kind of wedding day I love to photograph.
